We’re over a year into working on our album Exhaust. The title came first, before we started working on it, but it’s an apt summation of how we’re feeling right now in relation to getting it completed.
The first few months flew by as we bounced back and forth from recording drums in the studio and recording everything else at home. The next several months involved more recording and mixing at home, and additional visits to our pal Mike Kamoo’s studio.
Since then, it’s been a creatively fulfilling—albeit exhausting—process of mixing, recording, and reimagining what we have.
As the resident band engineer, the albums that have most informed my mixing process are AC/DC’s For Those About to Rock, The Cars’ Heartbeat City, and Def Leppard’s Hysteria.
