Here are the top 10 most used plugins in the making of Exhaust:
- UAD Studer A800: It goes on every final track, every time.
- Slate Virtual Channel: Again, it’s on every track. I usually set it to the “British 4K” console configuration.
- Slate Virtual Mix Rack: It’s on most guitar tracks. I usually start with the “Electric Guitar 1” preset and fiddle from there
- Soundtoys EchoBoy: Obviously this is an industry mainstay for a reason. I use it a ton not just for delay but for its chorus preset, which tends to beat out dedicated chorus plugins, in my experience.
- Soundtoys Tremolator: I just bought the Soundtoys bundle a few months ago and this thing is probably the one I use the most other than the EchoBoy.
- FabFilter Pro-Q 3 : I rely on this EQ mainly to cut low-mids from guitars.
- UAD API 550A: I’ve been using this thing more and more on guitars and drums. It hasn’t let me down yet.
- UAD LA-2A (the newer ones, not the legacy): I’ve finally given in to the reality that this thing is imperative on vocals.
- Ableton Drum Bus Gate Compressor: I bounce drums down to a WAV in Logic, import them into Ableton, then put this plugin on them—every time. It’s my secret weapon on drums.
- Ozone 5: I’m still on the ancient 12-year old version of this mastering plugin that I probably ripped from MediaFire. I have one preset that I use, and I put it on every song. Then mix around it.
